PORTER- Mary L. Root passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on May 3rd, 2024, at Ledgewood Nursing Home in Windham, Maine.
Mary was married to Rev. Jerrold Root Sr. for 62 years, they were inseparable since 1960.
She was born in Painted Post, New York to her parents, father Francis Short and mother Ella Short.
She enjoyed being a pastor's wife, serving the Lord with Jerrold in different churches throughout 40 years of ministry.
She also enjoyed spending time with family.
As a younger girl growing up on a farm her love for cows and horses stayed with her till the end. She was still talking about her cows and horses see right up until she passed.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Rev. Jerrold Root Sr. who passed away in 2022.
Mary had 3 children Jerrold Root Jr. of Porter, Maine, Joseph Root of Porter, Maine, and Jim Root of New York, and a 4th Joshua Root of Porter, Maine, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also has a brother Jim Short and his wife Judy Short in New York.
A graveside service will be held on Friday May 10th at 10 AM at the Stanley Cemetery in South Hiram.
